Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is often misunderstood as simply applying heavy pressure. Although the intensity of that style of massage may offer a brief release of endorphins that mask our aches and pains, it is common to see a return of symptoms a day or two post treatment.
Our team at Unravel Therapeutics doesn’t subscribe to this notion, and looks for greater engagement, depth and listening in the tissue. We believe that deep tissue massage is more accurately described as a targeted soft tissue release technique that allows the client to maintain relaxation in their bodies while keeping a natural breathing cadence. If you are holding your breath and guarding against our touch, then we don’t truly feel like we are on the same team reaching for the same goals.
What a deep tissue massage looks like for us is: focusing on the deeper layers of muscles and fascia to release tension, reduce pain, and improve mobility. Rather than using force and working against your body's protective mechanisms, we use curiosity and find an approach and a tissue depth that allows your body to melt into the applied pressure, so that your body feels safe, heard and able to release. This can look like slow deliberate strokes, sustained pressure, breathwork, mobilization of the skin or connective tissue, movement, or a combination of these.
It is this specific approach, with an emphasis on listening to the tissue and your response to the techniques that differentiates it from other forms of soft tissue release.

Sports Massage
Sports Massage Therapy can enhance athletic performance by improving flexibility, reducing muscle tension, and aiding in recovery. Regular treatments can help prevent injuries, promote faster recovery after intense training, and support overall muscle health. By improving circulation and relieving stress, massage therapy can optimize physical function, allowing athletes or fitness enthusiasts to perform at their best.
All of our RMTs can incorporate Sports Massage techniques during your treatment.
TMJ Massage
TMJ (temperomandibular joint) massage is particularly beneficial for individuals experiencing jaw pain/tenderness, headaches or migraines, earaches, tinnitus, difficulty chewing, locking of jaw, fascial pain, or neck and shoulder tension.
This therapeutic massage will involve both external and, if consented to, intraoral (treatment from inside of the mouth) techniques to release tight muscles and improve joint function while aiming to reduce pain and/or tension.
All of our RMTs can incorporate TMJ Massage techniques during your treatment. Please discuss with your RMT about any TMJ or facial tension you may be having and they can work on an appropriate treatment plan for you.
Relaxing Facial Massage
Experience a soothing facial-style massage that incorporates warm towels and nourishing oils. This gentle treatment melts away tension and can include a refreshing marble stone application for added relaxation.
Dani loves to incorporate a blend of relaxing facial massage techniques into her treatments along side DNM facial nerve techniques, with TMJ release techniques when requested and indicated.
Concussion-Specific Treatment
Concussion-specific treatment is tailored to support individuals recovering from concussion-related symptoms. This treatment can help reduce headaches, dizziness, neck pain, visual disturbances, and overall muscle tension. With a focus on gentle soft tissue techniques and cranial work, the goal is to alleviate symptoms and promote optimal function.
If appropriate, your therapist may also prescribe specific vestibular exercises to help improve balance, reduce dizziness, and enhance spatial awareness, supporting a full and effective recovery.
All of our RMTs are trained to address concussion-related symptoms within their scope of practice. Please discuss any concussion symptoms you’re experiencing with your RMT, and they will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan.
