Safe and Soothing Massage Therapy for Kids and Youth

Massage Therapy for Children and Youth

Whether your child is an athlete in need of sports-specific massage, or simply seeking relaxation and stress relief, our goal is to create a positive, empowering experience that promotes both physical and emotional well-being.

Our approach is rooted in body positivity, safety, and education. We believe in fostering a healthy relationship with the body, teaching children and youth how to listen to their bodies, and providing them with the tools to care for themselves while also learning to communicate their needs and comfort levels through consent-focused practices.

What to expect:

For a child’s first session, we recommend a 30-45 minute treatment. We invite you to accompany your child or the child under your supervision to the appointment so that we can have an open and thorough consent conversation. This allows us to ensure that both you and your child feel comfortable with the process and understand what to expect.

The consent process:

We prioritize creating a safe, respectful space for every young client. During the initial conversation, we will explain the treatment and the role of massage in supporting both physical and emotional health. We will then discuss the specific areas of the body that we will focus on, and ensure the child’s consent for the session.

Our motto is "Your Body, Your Choice." This means that the child has complete control over the treatment. They can stop the session at any time if they feel uncomfortable or need a break. Consent is an ongoing process, and we will check in with the child regularly to make sure they are comfortable.

Clothing and comfort:

Massage can be done with the child keeping all of their clothes on if the child is uncomfortable with undressing areas of the body (e.g., for focused work on arms, legs, or back). In this scenario, we are happy to provide treatment over their clothing. If the child is open to it, they are also welcome to undress to their level of comfort, knowing that their RMT will keep them covered during the treatment, only uncovering their back, arms, or legs to treat that area, and the re-covering them before moving on. Level of undress will always be discussed prior to the treatment beginning, with an emphasis on feeling comfortable and safe.

Your role:

You are welcome to stay in the room with your child throughout the treatment, or if both you and your child feel comfortable, you can choose to step outside and wait in our reception space. Either way, your child’s safety and comfort are our top priorities, and we aim to create a calm, trusting environment where they can relax and feel empowered.
